If you write any manufacturing or contracting risks, you no doubt have been faced with the issue of additional insureds. Many times the insured is told that in order to be awarded a job, or be paid for one already completed, those to be named as additional insured must include, in addition to a specific name (Jones Brothers, Inc.), a list of unnamed entities (consultants, agents, subsidiaries, affiliates, etc.).
It is our position to assist in the process whenever possible, by adding those with whom the insured has a business relationship and is being required by contract to include under his policy. It is not our practice to extend additional insured status to unnamed entities with which the insured has no relationship. Simply stated, we want to know who we are insuring, and their interest in our policy.
Perhaps our insureds do not understand the most our policy will pay is the limit of insurance shown in the declaration, regardless of the number of insureds. In the event of a loss, they will be sharing their policy limits with anyone else making a claim against it.
As always in dealing with Frankenmuth Insurance, however, when there are situations falling outside our preferred parameters do not hesitate to contact your underwriter or field manager for further discussion.
