Patriot Insurance Company wants to ensure agents are aware that the state of Maine now requires fuel gas detectors in certain residential and business facilities. Required detectors may be battery operated, plugged into an electrical outlet, or hardwired.
The commercial occupancies that require installation and maintenance of approved fuel gas detectors include:
- Business occupancy
- Mercantile or assembly occupancy
- Mixed-use buildings that contain dwelling units
- Units in multifamily buildings
- Hotels, motels, or inns
- Fraternity houses, sorority houses, or dormitories affiliated with educational facilities
- Children’s homes, emergency children’s shelters, children’s residential care facilities, shelters for homeless children, or specialized children’s homes
