Although iBIS quotes with an effective date of 11/01/12 or greater will no longer automatically include EPLI, the importance of the coverage for our insureds has not diminished.

Employment practices liability exposure is excluded under most General Liability policies, and therefore under the Commercial Umbrella. Without EPLI coverage your customers are self- insuring for what can result in a significant loss to the business they have worked so hard to establish.

Our EPLI policy will protect employers against claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, wrongful discipline or demotion, libel, slander, invasion of privacy, and much more. We offer Third Party Coverage as an option as well, guarding against the results of adverse actions taken by an employee against a non-employee.

For a helpful sales tool go to the Agency Services page of our website. Selecting Marketing Materials from the Resources tab, the Brochures button will lead you to a menu of marketing materials, including an Employment Practices Liability brochure. In addition, the Tools tab of the Agency Services page includes a link to HR Resources – EPLI, an excellent collection of HR tips including a Toll Free Risk Management Hotline. This great resource is also available to our policy holders through the Policyholder Services page of our website.

An employer doesn’t have to be guilty to be subjected to defense against an EPLI claim. In a social climate where lawsuits are on the rise, insureds should not be looking at whether they can afford the coverage, but whether they can afford not to purchase this valuable protection.
