Get employees the right care right away, at no cost to you.
When an employee is injured, every minute counts.
Patriot Insurance Company, in partnership with health navigation provider Medcor, provides a free injury triage service for workers compensation policyholders. With this service, supervisors and employees receive immediate, around the clock access to trained healthcare professionals that offer medical support for non-life-threatening injuries.
How does injury triage benefit you and your employees?
For your business:
- Treat injuries without costly claims. A lot of cases are resolved with first aid instructions, preventing unnecessary ER and doctor visits that increase costs.
- Lower the cost of claims when treatment is necessary. Employees who seek appropriate care through injury triage generate lower claims costs than those who pursue treatment on their own.
- Keep your workforce operational. With triage calls averaging just 14 minutes, workers requiring only minor first aid can get back on the job fast.
For your employees:
- Professional assessment on demand. Nurses with specialized training evaluate injuries through patented methods to recommend the appropriate next steps.
- Available constantly from any location. Employees can reach support 24/7 regardless of where they work — on premises, from home, or in the field.
- Clear direction when it matters most. Eliminate uncertainty about whether an injury requires professional treatment or can be handled independently.
How does it work?
Maximize the benefits of injury triage by following this protocol to ensure employees receive appropriate care:
Step one: An injury happens.
- For potentially life-threatening injuries, call 911 right away.
- For non-life-threatening injuries, supervisors should contact 833-833-1934. Employees may call directly if no supervisor is present.
Step two: Injury evaluation.
- A trained healthcare professional will answer and request your company’s name and location.
- The injured employee will then confidentially discuss their condition with the healthcare provider.
Step three: Care guidance is provided.
- Using patented assessment methods, the healthcare professional will evaluate the injury.
- For injuries where self-care is recommended, the healthcare professional will walk through the approach with both the supervisor and employee. If off-site treatment is needed, the healthcare professional will recommend a designated medical facility.
Step four: Clarify details and wrap up the call.
- The healthcare professional will address any questions or concerns prior to ending the call.
- A First Report of Injury is automatically created.
